Fahrenheit 9/11

I just got home after seeing Fahrenheit 9/11. I feel such sadness and anger, I'm not sure I can put it into words. I cried throughout much of the film. I cried for the lives lost and for our country.

Michael Moore has once again produced a film that contains facts that are not made public knowledge easily in the mainstream press. Not necessarily because they are not important, but because they don't sell papers. Researching these things don't seem inportant. The back story never gets out until it's too late. I know Michael has a tendency to over dramatize and allow his opinion to color the way he presents facts, but hell... he's a movie maker and that is his job. And sadly, most of what he showed was fact.

The ties we allow our government officials to have are scary. The conflict of interest never seems to be a problem. But it is. The implication of impropriety should be enough to stop the madness, but it isn't. How could we allow the son of a president, who was once the head of the CIA, become president. With the family ties alone we have a conflict. How did we allow someone who is so closely tied through investments from the family of a wanted terrorist become president? The conflict was there, but there are no laws protecting us from it.

We are in a no win situation in the war in Iraq. The lives lost on every side profoundly affect all of us. DOes it truely make anyone feel better that we have destroyed the lives of so many, beacue a few had caused such devastaion at the World Trade Center.

The profit companies make on the tragedy of others is the biggest injustice of all of this. I can't say that we went to war to profit from it. But there are so many companies making money off the death and fear and we should be ashamed.

We the people...should be ashamed. We are our government, we allow them to serve for us. We allow our poor to fight the wars, we allow our government to pass stupid legislation they may not have even read. We get the government we deserve.

With freedom comes responsibility.

Register, educate yourself, and vote.

This is not just about the president and vice president, this is about the all 3 branches of the government. It's about the local elections. Where do think the president will come from? A local office is where they will start.

Pay attention. Pay attention to who they are and who they deal with. Knowledge is power.

My heart goes out the people fighting in our armed services and their families.

Granted, these thoughts are just one jerks opinion, but I am a registered voter...so my opinion counts. Make yours count too.

I agree 100%, However, what gets me is that everyone is telling me not to see this movie. Michael Medved, Rush Limbaugh, Lars Larson, etc...

What scares me is that when a movie of this caliber comes out we are all not supposed to see it, yet when the passion came out, every one is supposed to see that it don't matter what faith. I guess this is my own thoughs... I will leave it at that

Great Post Lili!

"Register, educate yourself, and vote."

Which would be lovely, in fact nearly all of the assertions that Moore brings breathlessly to our attention, were easily accessible and known to your humble correspondent ( yes reilly ;) by paying attention to the media in all its forms

The fact that the rich seek the company of the rich is not more shocking than pop stars/movie stars dating amongst themselves. Though their decisions may affect a greater of people this is not news to anyone that cares. Same goes for companies making money on misery. Where does the profit stop? More importantly where does it begin?

Maybe the public could, as you suggest, pay attention to how much THEY are paying to carry out these adventures.

Hal.
