no mojo

Okay, let me impress upon you...NEVER put off going to (insert event here) because they will be doing it again next week, next month or next year. I skipped SXSW this year and missed Mojo Nixon's final performance.

My frind John pointed out he isn't dead, so there may be hope for a comeback tour. But still, make time for the things you really enjoy.

tears for fears

Well, the sadness hasn't worn off yet.

I had a strange dream last night...I dreamt we found out that there was election fraud throughout Ohio and Florida and I was relieved to find out the country was not as uninformed and hate filled as I thought it was when I first realized Bush was going to win.

Then I woke up.

I realize that we have to mobilize. We need to join together to teach tolerance. I don't believe in god. I don't believe that religion should be running any country. That doesn't mean I don't have ethics and moral beliefs. That means I don't have Christian moral beliefs.

I believe we need to treat our fellow man with respect and dignity. I don't hate religious people. I don't treat them badly because they believe in imaginary people and stories they read in a book. I also don't treat people who believe in Aliens badly either. I realized a long time ago there are reasons to not like a person, but you need to know each person before you can make that decision.

I don't know every Christian person out there, but I do know if you go for faith based anything you will do more to alienate and hurt people than you possibly can do good. If you don't believe in gay marriage don't marry a gay. If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one. I don't believe in god and therefore I don't go to church, but that doesn't mean I won't let you go.

I will never take away your rights.

We need to mobilize to keep religious beliefs from trying to force everyone to be like them. I grew up Catholic and I remember being taught to fear god. Like I am being taught to fear now. Fear based rule is not a democracy.

We need to educate people, not oppress them with fear.

Let's educate people out of the necessity of abortion. Let's educate people out of fearing a gay couple in love. Let's educate people to success rather than crime. Let's educate people about tolerance not hate.

I voted

I walked to the polls today to vote. I walked because I wanted to really experience the voting process. So many people before me fought to get the right to vote and so many people don't take it seriously. They don't find out who the candidates really are and they don't research the issues. Well, I do. I spend time reading what the issues really are. I hate all the special interest ads that mislead the facts. The biggest lie is the "so and so does not endorse this plan" when in fact they don't endorse it because they want it harder or bigger, but they do in fact endorse the basis of the plan. I hate marketing.

As I sit here at work right now, I am watching the results come in and I am in tears. I see that Bush really does have a chance to win. I think I may throw up.

I was excited at the polls today, but it's passed.
